Reflections on the class

I have to admit that I came to this class with little to no idea what it entailed. After three days, I have an understanding of words which I would see on a day to day basis, but really had no idea what they meant - words like wikis and blogs. Then there are the terms that I had never before heard like RSS. I hope to slowly incorporate some of the things that I have learned this week into my curriculum. I just need to become more familiar with things before I spring this stuff on the students. All in all, it was a good week and I learned a lot.

More on wikis

The KHS Latin teachers have created a wiki to use. I think it will take a while to get used to how things work but it should be fun.

Wikis

Don't really know what toexpect today. Just that wiki comes from the hawaiian wiki wiki meaning quickly.

Photos

Aside from getting Sandy's photo popping up everywhere on my computer, I had fun with the photos. I am posting a picture of a star student, Kimba the pug. I would have liked it to be my dog, but I had no pictures of my dogs online. I also would have liked to resize the photo but I was unsure of how to do that.

RSS Feeds

Although I don't think I'll use this feature a lot, I did the assignment and I did manage to add some feeds to a reader. I enjoy historical novels so this is one of the best feeds for historical novels that I found.
Still floundering about on this program. Perhaps by the end of the day it will be better?

Tagging and social bookmarking

As long as I was on the delicious website I could gather info and tag them but I am having trouble bringing in bookmarks say from another search engine. I had fun with the delicious site but I am still a little unsure of myself with this material. Here is a lovely link for Vergil (if I did it correctly, that is). http://virgilius.org/index.html
So I found this video about Roman grammar on you tube which I thought was pretty funny. If you are unfamiliar with Latin grammar it probably won't make a lot of sense but I laughed. It is from Monty Python. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XbI-fDzUJXI.
I think I can get a lot of use out of the social bookmarking thing. I am really enjoying this.
